Enjoy Memorial Day weekend with the Kids 2009!
TriArts Sharon Playhouse is pleased to announce its 2009 Summer of Fun starts a month early this year. Kids 2009! will be performed on the main stage of the Sharon Playhouse over Memorial Day Weekend (May 23 and 24th.)
Kids 2009! is a dynamic musical revue showcasing the extraordinary talents of kids from 6 to 19 years of age and from 21 cities in the tri-state area. This fast-paced, all-singing, all-dancing, all kids revue is created and directed by TriArts’ Artistic Director, Michael Berkeley. A cast of forty was selected after an exciting talent search, which included auditioning over 200 children.
This exciting show will feature Broadway show tunes, from West Side Story to Fame to Hairspray. Solo and ensemble dance numbers will range from the tap to the twist. According to director Michael Berkeley,"The young talent from the tri state area is overwhelming and I am exhilarated as I know our audience will be with these amazing kids. The show is tailored to the special talents of the cast and provides not only a showcase for their talent, but an evening of remarkably entertaining musical theatre that is guaranteed to wow the audience! I urge you not to underestimate the excitement in store---this is a theatrical experience you will never forget!"
Executive Director Alice Bemand added, “If you enjoy the TriArts’ Diva series, also created by Michael Berkeley, and now in its tenth year of production, you’ll love the youth version, full of song, dance and surprises. This is a theatrical experience for everyone to enjoy!”
Tickets for Kids 2009! are available on-line anytime at www.triarts.net and range from $10 for children to $25 for premium seating (front and center). Performances are Saturday, May 23 at 7pm and Sunday May 24th at 5pm. Visit www.triarts.net for all the details, or call 860-364-SHOW (7469).
Aglet Theatre Company Presents…..
Aglet continues its spring 2009 season of staged readings at TriArts Sharon Playhouse’s Bok Gallery. Phantasie, written by Sybille Pearson and directed by Thomas Gruenewald, will be performed this Saturday, May 9th. Doors open at 7 pm for complimentary refreshments; reading begins at 7:30 followed by a talk-back led by Gloria Miller. Tickets are $25, and can be purchased at the door or by calling 860-435-NWCT (6928). Visit www.aglettheatre.net for more information and to subscribe to their email list.
Phantasie is about an adoptee who searches for her natural mother, but that search is less for a new parent than it is for clues to her buried self. Without knowledge of the circumstances of her birth or of her parentage, we journey along with her into the realm of possibility. The play is described as intelligent, moving and always imaginative. You won’t want to miss this extraordinary presentation. But call now, as the Lakeville Journal said, “Aglet Theatre Company continues to pack them in.” glettheatre@comcast.net or go to www.aglettheatre.net or call 860.435-6928.
