(Youtheatre 2007 cast of Gospell on the Main Stage)

New Workshop Just Added!

Seussical Song & Dance Workshop has just been added to the exciting 2008 Youtheatre roster! Learn the songs and dances from this popular musical, based on the story of “Horton Hears a Who” by Dr. Seuss. Cindi Parisi, who recently choreographed Seussical, along with Music Director John Moran will be leading the charge. Scheduled for the week of August 11 – 15, from 1pm to 3:30, this workshop can be combined with High School Musical Song & Dance Workshop (10am – 12:30) for a full exciting day! Each workshop costs $150 for the week, or only $250 for both sessions. Said Cindi “I’m looking forward to bringing Seussical to TriArts’ Youtheatre. The show is so much fun, and I love Dr. Seuss’ belief in the pure power of the imagination.”

Highlighting: Dylan Baker, instructor for Stage Combat and Martial Arts for Theatre June 23- 27

Dylan Baker, black belt in Tae Kwon do, will be teaching the first 3 days of this workshop which he describes as a dynamic introduction into stage combat, stunt work and mixed martial arts. Says Dylan: “We’ll get into martial arts in film and Hollywood, to show the difference between real martial arts and what we see on television. I'll be happy to demonstrate some basic stunt techniques. I also want the kids to put together their own skits, incorporating Tae Kwon-do and fight choreography, and I will video tape it so they get their small taste of Hollywood. I can't wait!”

His is a remarkable story. Dylan was diagnosed with juvenile diabetes at the age of four, and when he turned five, his parents enrolled him in the Edwards Tae-Kwon-Do Center, under the watchful eye of Sensai Charles Edwards. At the age of twelve, Dylan persevered through a grueling four hour test to be honored with a black belt.  By the time he was fifteen, Dylan was awarded the title of “Grand Champion”, in six annual tournaments in NY, CT, NJ and VT.  After completing several stunt scenarios in the HBO show, “OZ” he received his Screen Actor’s Guild card.  Since then Dylan has been working with the top stunt-coordinators in Manhattan and Hollywood pursuing his next dream.

The final two days of the workshop will be led by Jason and Bodi of Team Sinanju. Check them out at www.teamsinanju.com
