In an effort to accommodate a variety of schedules we have included one, two and three-week workshops in our summer program.  Check your calendar and see when you can join us, and please note age requirements to be sure the program is a good fit.  Enrollment is limited in most workshops; minimum enrollment required for some workshops.

Workshop space is limited, and space will be reserved in the order that applications with deposits are received. Please note that deposits are not refundable after April 1, 2008; balance of tuition is due one month prior to the start of each session. Professional Musical Theatre Performance Workshop: 'Anything Goes'
Dates: July 14 to August 2 - 3 Weeks
Times: Monday through Friday, 10:00 AM - 5:00 PM
Location: Sharon Center School
Ages: 8 - 18
Instructors: Heather Holohan & Michael Berkeley

Tuition: $799

Experience the fun, the challenge, the excitement of a TriArts Musical Theatre Performance Workshop. Extended day (10- 5!) with theatre pros will benefit students of all levels.  Students’ acting, singing and dancing skills will be developed while rehearsing Anything Goes (pending rights). Workshop will culminate in a performance on TriArts’ Main Stage at the Sharon Playhouse. Get ready for your curtain call!  The class will attend TriArts production of Camelot as a group and meet the actors afterwards.  Heather Holohan played Reno Sweeny in Anything Goes last year to critical acclaim, and Michael Berkeley is TriArts Artistic Director and licensed musical theatre composer and lyricist.


Disney Rocks!
Dates: June 23 to June 27 - 1 Week
Times: Monday through Friday, 10:00 AM - 3:00 PM
Location: Sharon Center School
Ages: 6 - 18
Instructors: Heather Holohan & Michael Brown

Tuition: $250

Develop your performing skills through scenes, songs and dance. Explore a Disney musical every day: Beauty & the Beast, Lion King, Little Mermaid and more.


Stage Combat & Martial Arts for Theatre
Dates: June 23 to June 27 - 1 Week
Times: Monday through Friday, 9:00 AM - 12:00 PM
Location: Bok Gallery
Ages: 10 - 18
Instructors: Dylan Baker, Jason & Bodi from Team Sinanju

Tuition: $200

A dynamic intro into stage combat, stunt work, and mixed martial arts including Capoeira, (pronounced cappo/wara) a Brazilian dance martial art. Learn the difference between real martial arts and what we see on TV and in film. You’ll put together skits incorporating martial arts and fight choreography which will be videotaped to get a taste of Hollywood!


Broadway Revue Song & Dance Workshop
Dates: June 30 to July 11 - 2 Weeks
Times: Monday through Friday, 10:00 AM - 3:00 PM
Location: Sharon Center School
Ages: 8 - 18
Instructors: Heather Holohan & Joshua Stone
Tuition: $450

Each student will work on a solo song and dance performance specially selected for them, in addition to ensemble numbers, culminating in a Broadway Revue on the final day. Voice, dance and acting skills will be honed. The class will attend TriArts’ production of Camelot as a group and meet the actors afterwards.


Creative Dramatics
Dates: June 30 to July 11 - 2 Weeks
Times: Monday through Friday, 9:30 AM - 12:00 PM
Location: Bok Gallery
Ages: 5 - 7
Instructor: Jill Fay
Tuition: $325

Our youngest aspiring actors will explore the performing arts in a relaxed and fun environment through theatre games, singing, storytelling and creative movement. Parents invited to a brief showcase on the final day.

High School Musical Song & Dance Workshop 2
Dates: August 11 to August 15 - 1 Week

Tuition: $150 per session

Learn the songs and dances from TriArts’ Choreographer and Music Director of Disney’s High School Musical, Footloose and Aida.

 

Seussical Song & Dance Workshop
Dates: August 11 to August 15 - 1 Week
Times: Monday through Friday, 1:00 PM - 3:30 PM
Location: Sharon Center School
Ages: 8 - 14
Instructors: Cindi Parise & John Moran
Tuition: $150 per session

This workshop can be combined with High School Musical Song & Dance Workshop (10am – 12:30) for a full exciting day! Each workshop costs $150 for the week, or only $250 for both sessions.

Learn the songs and dances from this popular musical, based on the story of “Horton Hears a Who” by Dr. Seuss.

 

Shake It Up With Shakespeare: Clowns & Villains
Dates: August 18 to August 22 - 1 Week
Times: Monday through Friday, 10:00 AM - 2:00 PM

Ages: 8 - 12

Tuition: $200

Step into the world of clowns and villains, comedy and tragedy through Shakespeare’s works.  Specially adapted for Youtheatre. Parents invited to a brief showcase on the final day.


Youtheatre Staff

Michael Berkeley, TriArts Artistic Director, musical director, director, composer and arranger brings his many years of theatre experience to TriArts’ Youtheatre.  His children’s theatre musicals, Imagine That! and Off the Wall are enjoying worldwide productions through the licensing company MiracleOr2.  His Irving Berlin revue, I Love A Piano (licensed through Rodgers & Hammerstein) has been touring the US to critical acclaim.

Heather Holohan is a performer, teacher, choreographer, and director.  She has been involved with TriArts Youththeatre since 2003 and has performed in many Tri Arts productions. Some of her more recent credits include Reno Sweeney in Anything Goes and Cassie in A Chorus Line. She is the proud owner of The Studio: School for Dance and Theatre Arts in Amenia, NY. Heather received her BFA in Acting and Dance Minor from Ithaca College in 2002.

Joshua Stone's music for film & TV has been broadcast throughout the world.  He has composed and conducted for ensembles from Africa, Asia, North and South America & Europe.  He is a registered Teaching Artist with the CT. Commission on Culture and Tourism and recipient of their 2007 Artist Fellowship Grant. Merits include:  NATAS Emmy Award, American Film Institute Award, New York Film Festival, and more. Joshua’s training credentials include the Boston Symphony Orchestra, Max Roach, Stephen Sondheim, and the Manhattan School of Music.

Cindi Parise is a member of Actor’s Equity Assoc. and has choreographed numerous musicals regionally and locally including TriArts’ Joseph…Dreamcoat, Footloose, Annie Get Your Gun, and Disney’s High School Musical. She teaches dance and musical theatre at Storm King School.

John Moran has performed over 70 musicals as conductor, musical director, vocal director and/or musician with companies from high schools and colleges to regional and AEA. He music directed TriArts’ Disney’s High School Musical in 2007. John was a Guest Artist at NYU, Pace University and Manhattanville College, as well as playing for Poughkeepsie Ballet, Martha Graham and Jose Limon dance companies.

Jill Fay received her BS in Elementary Ed from Boston University, where she was a member of B.U. Stage Troupe.  She is the drama director at Sharon Center School and kindergarten teacher.

Michael Brown has recorded 2 singles, appeared on American Bandstand and directs the gospel choir at Salisbury & Hotchkiss Schools.

Jane Farnol is a member of Actor’s Equity Assoc., SAG and AFTRA, trained at the Royal Academy of Dramatic Arts in London and is thrilled to bring Shakespeare to Sharon.  She has acted and directed in a lengthy list of shows, including the American Shakespeare Festival Theatre in Stratford, CT.

Dylan Baker At the age of twelve, and in spite of a diagnosis of juvenile diabetes, Dylan was honored with a black belt in Tae-Kwon-Do.  By the time he was fifteen, Dylan was awarded the title of Grand Champion in six tournaments.  After completing stunt scenarios in the HBO show, "OZ" he received his SAG card and he continues to work with top stunt-coordinators in NY and Hollywood.
